Questions we get asked

What's the difference between an A4 sketchbook and an A4 sketch pad?

A sketchbook is bound between covers, so your drawings stay together in order. A sketch pad has sheets glued along one edge that tear off cleanly, which suits work you'll pin up or hand in loose. See our sketch pads.

Portrait or landscape?

Portrait suits single studies, figures and page-by-page notes. Landscape gives you a wider page for scenes, and opens out into a long double-page spread.

What size sketchbook do I need for GCSE or A level art?

Check what your school or exam board asks for first. A4 is easy to carry between lessons and home, and an A3 book gives you more room for larger final pieces.
