Questions we get asked

How do I start a new paint marker?

Shake it with the cap on until you hear the ball rattle, then press the nib down on scrap paper a few times until the paint flows. Do this on scrap rather than your work, as the first flow can blot.

Are paint markers permanent?

On paper, card and wood, yes, once dry. On glass and other smooth surfaces they can be scraped or washed off, which makes them useful for window art.

Which POSCA tip size should I buy?

If you're buying one, the PC-5M (1.8 to 2.5mm) covers the most ground. Go down to the PC-3M or PC-1M for detail and lettering, and up to the PC-8K chisel for backgrounds. The 8-piece starter sets come in PC-3M and PC-5M.

Can you layer paint marker colours?

Yes. Let the first colour dry and the next one sits on top without mixing, so you can put light colours over dark.
