A5 is 148 × 210mm, half of A4 and the size most people settle on for drawing away from a desk. It fits a coat pocket, doesn't take over a café table, and still holds enough of a drawing to be worth keeping.
The casebound STUDIO and recycled ENVIRO books in 170gsm cartridge are the everyday choice. The handmade INDIGO books use 100% cotton rag paper that takes watercolour, the recycled denim book has 200gsm cotton paper, and the 300gsm STUDIO '35' watercolour book comes in A5 too.
On binding at this size: spiral books are bulkier in a pocket but fold flat, which matters when you're drawing standing up. Casebound books are slimmer and cope better with being squashed in a bag.
