Scale rulers and metal rulers for technical drawing, architecture, model making and cutting. Our triangular scale ruler puts 12 scales on one 30cm rule, with colour-coded sides so you find the right one quickly.
For cutting there are stainless steel rulers from 30cm to 1m and an aluminium rule with a raised cutting edge. For long, parallel lines there are 60cm and 80cm acrylic T squares, and there's a deckle edge ruler for tearing paper to a soft, handmade-looking edge.
Pick the edge marked with your drawing's scale and measure with it as normal: the numbers give you the real-life size. At 1:100, for example, 1cm on the drawing stands for 1m in real life.
A triangular scale ruler fits more scales onto one rule and is easy to pick up off the desk. A flat scale ruler has fewer scales but lies flat and slips into a pencil case or folder.
A metal one. A knife can bite into a plastic ruler and drift off the line. A rule with a raised edge keeps your fingers further from the blade.
Drawing parallel horizontal lines. Hold the head against the straight edge of a drawing board or table and slide it up and down, then rest set squares on it for verticals and angles.
It tears paper along a serrated edge instead of cutting it, giving a rough, handmade-looking edge. It's popular for watercolour paper and handmade cards.
