Tree free paper made from plant and textile waste instead of wood pulp, from banana, coconut, hemp and coffee papers to wildflower seed paper you can plant once your card or invitation has been enjoyed. Each paper has its own colour, grain and texture, in A4 packs from 150gsm to 200gsm, with a 200gsm cotton rag sketch pad in A4 and A3.
The papers are made in India from fibres left over from farming, food and textile production: banana plant fibre, coconut and coffee husks, tea leaves, barley spent in brewing, flax left over from making linen, and cotton textile waste. The manufacturer uses no harsh chemicals and recycles its water on site.
Drawing, collage, journalling, card making and bookbinding. The surfaces are matte and absorbent, so they take pencil, ink and pastel well. Test a corner before a heavy wash, as each paper behaves a little differently.
Yes. The soft, absorbent surface picks up ink from the block with light pressure, so you get solid colour even when printing by hand. Hemp paper is a good one to start with.
Tear it into small pieces, cover them with a thin layer of compost and keep it moist. The wildflower seeds pressed into the paper will start to grow.
