Glass Jar with Bakelite Screw Lid. Apply a thin layer of adhesive to the area required for metal leaf coverage - absorbant surfaces should be sealed (shellac is ideal) and free from dust. Once the size has become tacky (at least 15 minutes depending on prevailing conditions- it will remain in this state for some time before going off) it is ready for metal leaf application. Once applied leave the leaf for at least 24 hours to allow it to 'cure'. A coat of shellac after curing is recommended to protect the leaf and avoid tarnishing.
