Description
Every sheet of Artway Indigo Seed Paper is formed by hand by craftspeople in Northern India, using traditional papermaking methods and 100% cotton offcuts rather than wood pulp. Natural seeds are embedded through each sheet, giving an off-white, speckled, rustic finish, and every sheet has its own deckled edge.
That makes it a lovely choice for wedding stationery: invitations, save the dates, place cards and favour tags with a natural, handmade look. And once the day is over, guests can tear their card into small pieces, plant it in soil and keep it watered. With care, the seeds should sprout, though germination varies with conditions.
The paper is unsized, so its soft cotton fibres pick up ink readily for letterpress and hand-burnished lino, block and stamp prints. For the same reason, watercolour and other wet media soak straight in, and rubbing out can lift the fibres, so keep pencil guidelines light and test pens on a corner first. It's acid-free, but not suitable for inkjet or laser printers.
Best for: couples and stationers making wedding invitations, save the dates, place cards and favour tags that guests can plant afterwards, and printmakers who burnish lino, block and stamp prints by hand. Not for watercolour: choose Indigo Mid or Smooth Texture for painting.
