Artway Indigo Handmade Cotton Rag Paper – 350gsm Smooth Texture, A3–A5

Description

Every sheet of Artway Indigo paper is formed by hand by craftspeople in Northern India, using traditional papermaking methods and 100% cotton offcuts rather than wood pulp. The result is a 350gsm paper with long, strong fibres, natural deckled edges and the small variations in size, shape and tone that only handmade paper has.

The smooth texture is the one to choose for line work: pen, ink and calligraphy nibs glide across it without catching, and fine detail stays crisp, including the finer cuts of a lino or block print. It still takes watercolour, gouache and graphite, and its handmade character suits hand-lettered wedding invitations, place cards, menus and greeting cards. For oils, prime with gesso first; at 350gsm it cockles less than our 250gsm under heavy washes.

It's gently sized with a gelatine-free solution, so it's vegan, and it's acid-free with a neutral pH so your work won't yellow over time. Each pack is wrapped in recycled kraft paper. Please note it isn't suitable for inkjet or laser printers.
