Core Features
- 250ml in a secure screw-top plastic jar — enough to explore, experiment and build a body of textured work. Easy to dip a palette knife into without decanting.
- Dries to a water-resistant, low-sheen finish — not glossy, not chalky matte. Finished texture looks natural under the paint surface and won’t distort your colour.
- Heavy body formula — holds brush marks and palette knife peaks proud as they dry, with no significant slump or shrinkage. Apply it thickly and the texture stays exactly as you left it.
- Mixes with any acrylic colour in any proportion — no ratios to memorise. Stir it into your existing paints to build as much or as little texture as you want.
- Non-toxic and water-based — safe for home studios, evening classes and school art rooms. Cleans up with water while wet; no solvents needed.

Description
Add bold, expressive texture to your acrylic paintings with the Artway Impasto Medium. This heavy body acrylic texture paste is specially formulated to build rich, sculptural surfaces — ideal for impasto painting and anywhere you want thick, dramatic layers of colour that hold their shape as they dry.
Unlike a gel medium, Impasto Medium is a modelling paste with a unique paste-like consistency that blends seamlessly with acrylic medium or paint in any proportion. Even when mixed in equal volumes, there's minimal colour loss — so your colours stay as vivid and rich as ever, with none of the dulling effect you might expect.
Once dry, it cures to a low, subdued sheen that closely matches the natural finish of dried acrylic paint, and is equally water-resistant — making it a truly integrated part of your painting rather than an afterthought.
What it does:
- Makes your paint thicker and more sculptural, so brushstrokes and palette knife painting marks stand out visibly on the canvas
- Extends your paint (makes it go further) without losing colour intensity
- Dries while keeping those raised, three-dimensional textures intact
