What is acrylic paint?
Acrylic paints are an essentially plastic, being pigments contained within a polymer emulsion - they are markedly different from oil paints in that they are very fast-drying, and are water-soluble when mixing, for gouache or watercolour effects, but water resistant when dry. Thin them for a watercolour wash effect or apply them thickly with texture to resemble oils. They are an incredibly versatile and relatively cheap medium, especially suited to quick working.
