Book Binding Supplies

Our curated range of bookbinding supplies for the aspiring book binder. Suitable for both beginner and professional bookbinders.

What is bookbinding?
Book binding is the process of sewing/binding paper sheets together to form an enclosed book.

Why should I start?
You’ll learn to master techniques, methods and styles that have spanned thousands of years. Starting from Ancient Egypt with the innovation of the Coptic stitch to the stab stitch technique from Japan. This craft carries centuries of innovation.

Alongside this rich history, you are learning a practical craft. Learn how to repair treasured old books or make new ones to feature in your home or studio or as a gift to a friend or loved one.

How to start book binding?
We have our introductory Bookbinding kit with the essential tools to start learning this ancient craft. The set includes such essentials as a natural bone folder to produce clean fold lines, beeswax to prepare your thread, linen thread to stitch, and needles for sewing. Perfect for creating pamphlets, handmade books, zines or magazines.

We also offer a selection of tools and materials such as threads, awl, bone folders, wax and needles which you can purchase separately.

Looking for card or paper?
The paper you choose for your book creates its look, style and substance. Cartridge paper for a smooth, professional look, or cotton rag paper for a luxurious handmade feel. Our Tree Free range goes further—papers crafted from banana, flax, coconut and other natural fibres offer stunning unique textures while being completely sustainable. Find all of papers here.
