Artway Flat Hake Brushes are made from supersoft quality natural goat hair bristle. The softness of the bristle allows for subtle mark making and a light touch not associated with other types of brush. This truly versatile design of brush is great for a whole range of applications using a variety of media: pottery/ceramic glazing, dusting, varnishing, ink wash, gilding, painting and other surface preparations.
The Artway Hake Brush Set comes as a pack of 3 brushes in different sizes: 25mm/45mm/75mm. The size of these brushes makes for easy coverage of larger surface areas in smooth even layers. Each brush is handmade using traditional methods. A common fault with any brush is loss of hair. Whilst this is virtually impossible to overcome (particularly at the cheaper price points) the Artway Hake Brush set uses bristles bound by threaded copper wire attached to a split shank on natural wooden handles. This feature adds greater stability and support to the brush head providing increased resistance to hair loss - a feature more commonly found in higher level materials.
The soft bristle associated with this type of brush renders it better suited to more dilute, free flowing liquids. Wetting and rewetting surfaces without lifting previous layers is achievable. The higher absorbency achieved by the fineness of the bristle also helps with lifting excess surface moisture and blending surfaces together.
Each brush has a hanging hole for more efficient drying and storage.
